A global generic and specialty pharmaceutical company had the task of incorporating data that was handed over to them from a different pharmaceutical company via an acquisition to their new Documentum for Life Sciences environment. A critical legal timeline was set to complete the hand over of this data as there would no longer be access to the source data after this date. The client had no direct access to the source system. Therefore the content and metadata had to be extracted and transferred over for further processing. On the target system side this information had to be parsed and converted to the necessary target data model. There were several classifications of documents that had to be taken into consideration:
fme and its product migration-center were chosen to partner with the client to help with the extraction as well as to perform the migration. With the use of migration-center, it was made possible to clean-up the data and parse it before migrating it to the new solutions. The legacy data was migrated as-is while still being available for compliance through preserving the original folder path. It was important to the client to ensure that all active data was mapped appropriately to the new Documentum for Life Sciences solutions. With its transformation capabilities, migration-center provided the necessary ability to enrich the data prior to the import as needed for the successful data mapping.
